Chrome extensions

Privacy policy

This page covers the three Chrome extensions published by Nenta for English teachers. All three follow the same rule: none of them collects, transmits or sells any data. Whatever they store stays on your device, in the browser's own local storage (chrome.storage.local), and is never sent to a Nenta server or to any third party.

CEFR Text Level Checker

Checks the CEFR level of a text you provide and highlights words above the level you pick. The text you check is processed inside your browser and is not sent anywhere — not to Nenta, not to any other server.

Permissions requested and why:

  • activeTab — to read the text of the page you are currently viewing, only when you open the extension.
  • storage — to remember your last chosen CEFR level between sessions, stored locally on your device.

Vocabulary Clipper

Lets you save a word from any page along with the sentence it appeared in and the page's address, then export the list as CSV, or for Anki or Quizlet. The saved list lives in your browser's local storage on your own device; exporting it produces a file you download yourself — nothing is uploaded to a server.

Permissions requested and why:

  • activeTab — to read the selected word and its surrounding sentence on the page you are viewing.
  • storage — to keep your saved word list on your device between browsing sessions.
  • contextMenus — to add a "Save to Vocabulary Clipper" option to the right-click menu.

Class Groups & Picker

Splits a list of student names you type in into pairs or small groups, and picks a random student to answer while remembering who has already been picked in the current class. The list of names you type stays on your device; it is not sent to Nenta or to anyone else.

Permissions requested and why:

  • storage — to remember the class list and who has already been picked, stored locally on your device.

General

  • No analytics or tracking code runs inside any of the three extensions.
  • No account, sign-in or personal information is required to use them.
  • Uninstalling an extension removes its local data from your browser.
  • Nenta itself is a management platform for language centres; these extensions are a separate, free tool for teachers and are not connected to a centre's account or student records in Nenta.
